We see from this screen shot the list on the left of over 40 character types. These are the most basic or generic fiction types of characters. You have not only their generic names, you have also fiction and psychological descriptions of the characters to go from.

There is no dogmatic writing system here. You don’t have to include certain types of characters as in the hero myth approach. You can use your creative, story imagination and combine characters how you like.

In developing your story you might experiment with types of characters: how about Friends who turn into Adversaries and what makes this happen, and how is it all resolved? By focus on Character Combinations you generate story, action, plot and theme, making the characters go to crisis, climax and through to resolution.

Note the tabs immediately above the right text box. Description – Relationships – Personality. The Relationships tab works well to show the interconnections between your characters. The Personality chart of fiction-personality characteristics is not good for fiction or for psychology, and is not used as part of The Writer’s Interface, so don’t get confused.  The Writer’s Interface list of over fifty character types, as shown on the left, is much more true to novels and life, and therefore useable in planning and developing fiction characters. WriteItNow software will revise this chart, or make it flexible, for your putting in character traits in its WriteItNow 4 major revision.
